With every NFL player available in a Pro Football Focus re-draft, the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow went eighth overall.

The praise and expectations continue to roll in for the Cincinnati Bengals’ newest signal-caller, Joe Burrow. This time, Pro Football Focus is the network heaping the praise on the Heisman Trophy winner. In an exercise where every NFL player was available, Burrow was off the board by the eighth pick.

That’s incredible praise, considering the LSU product has yet to take a single snap in his professional career. PFF isn’t the only outlet that views Burrow in such a positive light though. This news comes on the heels of ESPN running a similar scenario where the Bengals’ man under center went thirteenth overall.

The draft beyond Joe Burrow

The majority of the players selected before Burrow were established star quarterbacks, with the exception of Kyler Murray. Guys like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Russell Wilson understandably went before him. However, there were a number of gunslingers that went after the most popular man in Cincinnati too. Aaron Rodgers, Carson Wentz, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady, to name a few.

The idea that the Bengals have one of the ten most desirable quarterbacks in the league has got to have the orange and black faithful even more optimistic for the future. The recent past has been dark, but if these projections turn out to be true, things are about to turn around in the Queen City quickly.

Burrow isn’t the average rookie signal-caller. He’s had pro-comparisons and expectations thrust upon his shoulders that the league hasn’t seen in quite some time.

It’s a tremendous amount of pressure, especially considering the irregularities surrounding this offseason. Thankfully, Burrow has an unusual array of weapons at his disposal for a number one overall pick. A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, Joe Mixon, and others will certainly help smooth his transition.

Only time will tell if Burrow will live up to the incredible expectations hanging over his head. Talking to anybody who has spent any amount of time with the national champion will suggest that he has the mental makeup to do so. Now, it’s just a waiting game for these projections to go from Twitter to the field of play.
