Cincinnati Bengals’ ideal red-zone packages: Bully Ball

11 Personnel (3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 RB)

  • A.J. Green (6’4)
  • Tee Higgins (6’4)
  • Auden Tate (6’5)
  • C.J. Uzomah (6’6)
  • Giovani Bernard

The Bengals have the ability to impose their will on any defense in the league with this lineup. The three wideouts could double as basketball players with their lanky arms and ability to box out defenders. Each member of the trio has a tremendous catch radius as well, so it will give Joe Burrow some extra room for error should he need it.

Speaking of error, Burrow may face some pressure that causes inaccuracy. That may be the best way for opposing defenses to counter this look from Cincinnati. There will only be five offensive linemen in protection so applying all the pressure they can to force a bad throw could be the only way to save a corner that’s out-matched height and weight-wise.

The good news is that Burrow thrives in the face of pressure and some of his best plays came when he was being chased down. Additionally, the receivers will likely be running fades in this package, which don’t take long to develop, meaning the ball can be out quickly.

If the coaching staff is worried that the pressure may be too much, they can keep Bernard in the backfield for a little extra protection. Don’t forget C.J. Uzomah either, who can chip a dynamic defensive end to help out the offensive tackle before he goes into his route and serves as a safety net for Burrow.

There are very few teams, if any, that have the kind of personnel needed to match up against this package of Bengals pass catchers.
