Week 1: Bengals vs Los Angeles Chargers

The first and most obvious game for fans to be excited about is the Bengals’ matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1. Joe Burrow’s rookie debut is bound to be a big-ticket event for Cincinnati fans, regardless of the young quarterback’s performance.

Fans have been waiting since before the 2019 season ended to see Burrow in black and orange stripes. In Week 1, those dreams will become a reality. After months of talk, it’s time for this team to actually show their improvement on the field, starting with the quarterback position.

While this game will be exciting for everyone, expectations should be tempered for this matchup. With no preseason games this year, it will be Burrow’s first time experiencing actual NFL play. Despite his talent, it could be a tough adjustment for the first-year quarterback.

To make things worse for the first overall pick’s debut, the Chargers have a loaded group of talented players on the defense who could make his NFL game even harder. Players like Joey Bosa, Derwin James, Casey Hayward, and Chris Harris Jr. will give Burrow a tough time in his first start.

This will likely be a low scoring game for both teams. However, seeing Burrow in stripes for the first time will trump the outcome of the game for fans. The Bengals may struggle with this matchup, but it’s going to be a monumental moment for the future of the franchise.
