Bengals that can fill the void left by Trae Waynes: Winston Rose

Another sneaky good signing by Cincinnati’s front office, Winston Rose joins the team after dominating the Canadian Football League. Most recently with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the 6’0 corner has forced an astonishing number of interceptions.

Over the course of three years, he’s earned 14 picks, with 9 of those coming last year alone. One thing is for certain, much like the previously mentioned Phillips, he has a knack for generating turnovers.

He’s already earned the respect of his new defensive coordinator as well. Lou Anarumo had this to say to the Bengals’ official website,

"“Don’t sleep on Winston Rose…having all those interceptions the last couple of years…They’re (Winston and Sims) all big guys. They all have length to them.”"

It would be wise to take the advice of Anarumo. While it’s one thing to compete in the CFL and another thing entirely to perform at the NFL level, the feats he accomplished while in the North are still impressive.

Between Rose, Sims, and Phillips, the Bengals have a trio of intriguing options to fill the void left by Trae Waynes. As training camp rolls on, keep an eye on the situation to see if one separates from the pack, or if the team will have to go with a committee approach.

Either way, with any luck, these three will be able to keep the ship afloat until the Bengals’ new star is able to return to health.
