Bengals’ potential Trae Waynes replacement: Brandon Carr

At 34 years old, Brandon Carr‘s best football may be behind him. Despite this, he still has the talent and experience to be a solid piece in the Bengals secondary if they don’t feel comfortable with their group.

With 12 years of NFL experience, Carr could be a good presence in the Bengals cornerback room. Signing Carr could have positive implications for young players like Darius Phillips and Winston Rose, who could learn a lot from a player with so many seasons spent in the league.

While he may be getting old, Carr has remained a consistently solid presence on defense as of late. As a part of one of the best defenses in the league with the Baltimore Ravens, the 12-year veteran started all 16 games, playing 76% of their defensive snaps while earning an overall PFF grade of 67.3 in 2019. If he can still be valuable to a team like the Ravens at his age, he can surely help the Bengals out.

At his age, Carr may not be looking to join a team without immediate championship hopes. However, he could be a relatively cheap signing because of his age and the Bengals would be smart to give him a call.
