The Cincinnati Bengals need to keep their eyes on these speedy collegiate receivers to complete their dangerous wide receiver corps.

If you’ve been keeping your eye on the Cincinnati Bengals the past three weeks, it’s been no secret that their offense has begun to find its footing. Behind the stellar play of rookie quarterback Joe Burrow, the orange and black faithful are finally beginning to see the offensive promise that was guaranteed with the hiring of Zac Taylor.

Despite less than ideal performances from the guy who was the presumptive WR1, A.J. Green, the receiving corps. has been key to ensuring offensive success. Tyler Boyd is a force to be reckoned with in the slot, Tee Higgins looks more like a premier receiver with each passing week, and fans are routinely left in awe at the effort and catch radius displayed by Auden Tate.

Sounds like Cincinnati is all set at receiver, right?

Well, while the skill position group is developing into one of the best in the league, they’re still widely missing one attribute: speed. If the front office can acquire a guy to take the top off the defense, all bets are off. Safeties will have to respect Burrow’s deep ball accuracy, leaving him the opportunity to pick them apart in intermediate routes.

Of course, there’s always the possibility for speed to be had via free agency. After all, guys like Sammy Watkins and Kenny Stills are set to hit the open market. However, the Bengals have more dire areas of need to spend their money on.

The best route to add speed is through the draft. Make no mistake about it, one of these speedy receivers could be on Cincinnati’ss wish list heading into late April.
