The Bengals will get two of their position coaches back with a third out on Sunday against the Washington Football Team.
The Bengals announced on Friday they will be without WR coach Bob Bicknell and cornerbacks coach Steve Jackson will miss their second straight game and safeties coach Robert Livingston on Sunday against the Washington Football team. Two Bengals coaches who were out against Pittsburgh will return against Washington.
Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will assume the responsibility of Jackson, defensive quality control coach Jordan Kovacs will take over the duties of Livingston against Washington and Assistant WRs coach Troy Walters will inherit the responsibilities of Bicknell as he did on Sunday against Pittsburgh.
Linebackers coach Al Golden and senior defensive assistant Mark Duffner who missed the game against Pittsburgh last weekend were not mentioned on the report released on Friday and seem set to return against Washington. Kovacs replaced Golden last week and assistant DL coach Gerald Chatman took over for Duffner.
Being without Bicknell is a challenge for the Bengals offense facing the Washington Football Team top-ranked pass defense. The Bengals’ pass defense which is 26th in yards allowed and 30th in TD passes permitted will be challenged without both of their position coaches. Anarumo being on double duty will be tested.
Cincinnati announced the return of offensive lineman Fred Johnson and defensive lineman Margus Hunt to the active roster from the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Johnson had been on the list since November 6, and Hunt since November 9. Johnson has played eight games this season with three starts and 39 percent of offensive snaps.
Hunt has played in two games this season for the Bengals starting one and played in four for the New Orleans Saints recording three tackles, one tackle for loss and one QB hit. There has been no indication if Hunt or Johnson will be active for the game Sunday against Washington.
