Bengals’ draft prospects: Ja’Marr Chase

Depending on what Cincinnati does in free agency, it could free them up to select a player at a position outside of the offensive line. If the club feels like they did enough to address the unit prior to being on the clock, they could ultimately pull the trigger on LSU product Ja’Marr Chase.

Boy, does the Bengals’ offense begin to look real dangerous when adding the 6’1, 208-pound wideout into the mix. Cincinnati already has intriguing options in Joe Mixon, Giovani Bernard, Tyler Boyd, and Tee Higgins. However, Chase could become the number one target out of all of them if he ends up in stripes.

The stellar pass catcher opted out this season but in the year prior, he hauled in a jaw-dropping 20 touchdown passes and racked up 1,780 receiving yards. Who was delivering the ball, you ask? None other than the Queen City’s very own, Joey B.

He creates separation at an astonishing rate, thanks to his crisp route running and strength. Plus, if reports from The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman are to be believed, Chase is now running in the 4.4’s. That would give the Bengals’ offense some serious speed that has evidently been lacking this year.

In an ideal world, Cincinnati would be able to net some of the big-fish free-agent linemen, nab Chase, and then take advantage of the deep tackle class to scoop up a young prospect at the position in round two.
