Bengals Round 1 Pick 5: Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU

This has been the most debated topic among Bengals fans all off-season, but at this point, the answer appears to be clear, Chase will be coming to Cincinnati. Local sources have indicated that the Bengals are leaning towards taking Burrow’s former receiver.

With only days to go, it seems unlikely that they will change their minds. Chase would immediately be the top weapon in the Bengals’ offense. The 21-year old WR is a freak athlete with insane production to boot.

As a 19-years old, Chase was Burrow’s top weapon during his Heisman campaign, racking up 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns. During his impressive 2019 campaign, Chase regularly went up against top cornerbacks, making even high draft picks like A.J. Terrell look silly.

Considering the connection between Chase and Burrow, the talented WR should be able to have a huge impact from day one. While some WRs take time to develop a chemistry with their quarterback, that won’t be a problem for the two former LSU studs. The Bengals are not going to make everyone happy, regardless of who they pick.

There are voices among fans and media alike who consider it blasphemous for the Bengals to even consider taking someone other than Sewell. However, Chase is going to be the pick and he will be a good one at that.
