Bengals best value pick – Cameron Sample

I mentioned before that the Bengals had a really nice draft and that made it tough to pick their best value player because they had a lot of really good value picks in this draft. I ultimately went with Cameron Sample, who the Bengals took in the fourth round out of Tulane.

After finishing last in the NFL in sacks a year ago, Cincinnati made sure to add pass rushers in this draft and Sample falls into that category. The Green Wave defensive lineman had a nice senior season in New Orleans, tallying 52 tackles (7.5 for loss) and five sacks. He had 10.5 sacks during his four-year career at Tulane.

Alan Rubenstein of Stripe Hype wrote that Sample gives the Bengals the ability to have a versatile defensive line, as they not only took him in round four, but landed Joseph Ossai out of Texas in the previous round. For a defense that was pretty lousy at getting after the quarterback, Sample is a sneaky good pick that’s going to get home and pressure the quarterback.

Ossai was another potential option for best value pick but I went with Sample because he was a Day 3 selection who can jump in and contribute almost immediately for this team.
