Bengals Must-Watch Quarterback Matchups

No. 5: Joe Burrow vs Zach Wilson

The Bengals travel to New York in Week 8 to face the Jets, who were one of the few teams that fared worse than Cincinnati last season. The Jets won just two games and, as a result, landed the No. 2 pick in the draft where they took BYU product Zach Wilson, who skyrocketed up the draft boards throughout the offseason.

Wilson has a similar playing style to that of Patrick Mahomes and that’s likely why the Jets decided they had seen enough of Sam Darnold and took Wilson with the No. 2 pick. While Wilson could sling the football at BYU and has Mahomes-like qualities, let’s not forget what kind of organization the Jets are. They don’t have the weapons and coaching that Kansas City has that helped transform Mahomes into the player he is today.

Even with that being the case, Burrow vs Wilson in Week 8 will be a lot of fun. These are two rebuilding teams who are looking to these guys to take their team in a better direction. The Jets gave Wilson some weapons and have done their best to upgrade the offensive line and the Bengals are in a similar boat. They took Ja’Marr Chase in the first round and have also done serious work improving their o-line.

Two young signal-callers going head-to-head midway through the season is going to generate some headlines so here’s to hoping this game delivers in the entertainment category.
