Bengals Must-Watch Quarterback Matchups

No. 3: Joe Burrow vs Andy Dalton/Justin Fields

I was really surprised that the Bengals’ Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears wasn’t in some sort of primetime slot, as it’ll be the first time Andy Dalton will face his old team since they parted ways with him following the 2019 season. Perhaps this game taking place in Chicago and the fact that Dalton might not even be the starter is why this game wasn’t a primetime affair.

Be that as it may, if Dalton is the starter in Week 2, it’ll be a chance for him to outperform the guy who his old team drafted as his replacement. Outdueling your replacement is something all quarterbacks want to do and Dalton could have a chance to do so when his old team visits his new team in Week 2.

If Dalton isn’t the starter and the Bears go with No. 11 overall pick Justin Fields instead, that’s also a fun quarterback matchup. It’d pit two former Heisman Trophy finalists (with Burrow winning it that year) and two former Ohio State quarterbacks against each other. They’re both also new to the league and that’s another storyline.

Whether it’s Dalton or Fields taking the snaps for Chicago in Week 2, either one will be a fun quarterback matchup for Burrow and the Bengals.
