Bengals Must-Watch Quarterback Matchups

No. 2: Joe Burrow vs Justin Herbert

There was no secret as to who the Bengals were taking with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft but years down the road, some might look at this draft and wonder what could have been had the Bengals taken Justin Herbert instead. Herbert went No. 6 to the Chargers and had himself one heck of a rookie year, throwing for 4,336 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Herbert won the Offensive Rookie of the Year honors for his efforts and while many have crowned him as the king of the 2020 NFL Draft class, Burrow missed the final six games of the year, otherwise, he’d likely have had pretty good numbers too.

When the Bengals and Chargers played last year, it was Burrow vs Tyrod Taylor, as Herbert wasn’t supposed to start anytime soon. That means when these two teams meet in Week 13 at Paul Brown Stadium, it’ll be the first meeting between Burrow and Herbert.

Burrow will be determined to prove that the Bengals made the right decision in picking while Herbert will want to prove that he should have been the No. 1 pick. That’s going to make for a really fun game in Cincinnati.
