Free Agents Bengals Should Sign – No. 3: Justin Houston

The Bengals finished the 2020 season last in sacks and pass rush was clearly an area of concern for the Bengals, as they took four defensive linemen in the 2021 NFL Draft and also added Trey Hendrickson and Larry Ogunjobi in free agency. They were also reportedly interested in former Washington defensive lineman Ryan Kerrigan.

While the Bengals made strides to improve their pass rush, they should keep looking for help and Justin Houston would be a nice solution to their pass-rushing problem. Houston is coming off of an impressive season with the Colts, totaling eight sacks in 2020. That’s more than anyone had on the Bengals team (Carl Lawson led the Bengals in sacks with 5.5).

Houston has battled injuries throughout his career, which is why the Chiefs cut ties with him following the 2018 season but Houston proved he can play a full season. He’s started all 16 games the past two seasons with Indianapolis and it’s surprising that he’s still on the free-agent market.

Houston would give the Bengals a major bump in the pass-rushing department and they should do whatever it takes to get him to Cincinnati.
