Cincinnati Bengals who need a great camp – No. 2: Jonah Williams

It’s now or never for Jonah Williams. The Bengals’ former first-round pick hasn’t been bad by any means but injuries have kept him off the field, limiting him to just 10 games through two NFL seasons.

That’s right — 10 games in two years.

Williams missed his entire rookie season with a shoulder injury and then missed six games in 2020 due to a knee injury. When he has been on the field, he’s been decent, allowing just three sacks through 634 snaps last year.

Bengals fans know Williams can play well but the issue with him is that he’s frequently getting bitten by the injury bug. Williams has to prove that he can be a leader on this new-look offensive line while also staying healthy. A rough training camp performance-wise or getting banged up could lead to the Bengals knowing Williams isn’t the answer at left tackle long-term.

This is Williams’ last chance to prove he can be the franchise left tackle in Cincinnati and if he can do that, the team will likely pick up his fifth-year option and make sure he’s on the team through 2023.
