Bengals newcomers projected to be starters – No. 1: Trey Hendrickson

The Bengals’ biggest offseason acquisition was signing defensive end Trey Hendrickson away from the Saints. Signing Hendrickson has been met with a fair share of criticism, as the Bengals gave him more money and could have theoretically afforded Carl Lawson, their leading sack rusher from last year.

Hendrickson had a phenomenal year with the Saints but he’s been a one-year wonder to this point of his career. The hope is that Hendrickson can pick up from where he left off a season ago and be a smothering force on the defensive line. This is something the Bengals need desperately and it’s why they felt comfortable signing Hendrickson to the contract they gave him.

The Bengals didn’t sign Hendrickson to have him hang out on the sidelines. He’s going to start and if all goes according to plan, he’ll make the Cincinnati defense a little more respectable this year.
