Cincinnati Bengals players to watch

5. Trent Taylor

The Bengals top four receivers on the depth chart are pretty much set with Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, and Auden Tate, but Trent Taylor has come into camp with a lot of motivation to be a part of this offense next season. He very well could take Alex Erickson’s role and become the Kick/punt returner.

The competition with Brandon Wilson and Darius Phillips will be there, considering Wilson and Phillips are starters on the latest depth chart.

Taylor is very quick and shifty with underrated hands. He reminds me a lot of an unproven Julien Edelman or Cole Beasley. He may never reach that potential, but he has similar qualities when you evaluate his game.

Many of the receivers I named won’t see excessive run — especially with Joe Burrow out — except for Tate. This paves the way for Taylor to see a lot of play as a WR1/2 for a lot of the game.

Joe Danneman of FOX posted this video of Burrow connecting on a long ball down the field to Taylor. He’s been one of the bright spots of training camp practice this week.

Time for Taylor to shine under the lights on Saturday!
