Cincinnati Bengals players to watch

3. Akeem Davis-Gaither

Akeem Davis-Gaither is headed into year two for the Bengals. Last year, he slowly progressed into playing time at his usual position and showed promise but this year is important for him because the linebackers need several players to step up and show something.

The former fourth-round pick out of Appalachian State appeared in all 16 games last year and made two starts. He recorded 31 tackles, three defended passes, two quarterback hits, one interception, and half a sack. It was a decent season for him but now he has an opportunity to step up.

Davis-Gaither has a serious chance to compete for a starting role with Logan Wilson with the minimal moves to the linebacker position this offseason. Currently, Germaine Pratt is standing in the way of that, but both will see plenty of action in the preseason, so keep an eye on this competition amongst the two fighting for limited spots and roles in the linebacker room.

Jordan Evans will also see his fair share of opportunities to compete for the job as well. Davis-Gaither is the guy to watch for sure though.
