The kicking battle is anything but over for the Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati entered the preseason with a heated battle for the starting kicker. Rookie Evan McPherson was considered the leader over veteran Austin Seibert, but neither kicker is going down without a fight.

Both kickers were a perfect 2/2 on kicks and Seibert made the only PAT that was attempted for the Bengals on the night. The good news is that both of the players are doing really well and deserve to be on an NFL roster. The challenging part will be seeing which player ends up on the opening day roster for Cincinnati.

McPherson likely still has the inside track because of what he is able to do. If he and Seibert are identical in everything, the rookie will likely get the roster spot in the hopes he develops over time and costs a little bit less.

A perfect start in the preseason is a good way to show he has the leg to make any kick in the NFL. While this battle likely goes right to the beginning of the season, it is good to see two high-quality players fight it out for a roster spot.
