The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 19-14 in Week 1 of the preseason. As some players’ stocks dropped, others rose. Here are the five players that boosted their stock the most Saturday night.

Bengals who boosted their stock

5. Joseph Ossai

Third-round rookie Joseph Ossai left Saturday night’s game early due to a wrist injury. We await to get the final word on it and see if there are any fractures, but it is not looking like anything long-term. According to PFF College, Ossai rushed the passer 22 times in his debut game and had five total pressures, first among rookies in the first week of preseason for the Bengals.

Before the game, we released the seven key players to watch. Ossai made that list based on his everlasting motor and ability to blitz the quarterback with extreme quickness and agility — All of that was on display in this game. Right from the start, Ossai blew by a highly talented Tristian Wirfs and sacked Tom Brady on the very first possession of the game.

Continue to keep an eye on Ossai as the preseason continues unless coach Zac Taylor decides to take precaution and holds him out. He will be a vital piece to the defense this season, and even as a rookie, he’ll see countless snaps as an edge rusher and a linebacker.

Ossai arguably played the best overall game Saturday night out of any player on the Bengals roster.
