Bengals who tumbled in value – No. 2: Samaje Perine

Samaje Perine entered training camp as the likely No. 2 running back behind Joe Mixon. After all, Perine finished last season with 301 yards and three rushing touchdowns through 16 games and one start. He looked good last year and that’s why it made perfect sense that he’d be the backup in 2021.

While Perine probably has a tight enough stranglehold on that job, Chris Evans and Jacques Patrick might have something to say about that. Both guys have been kicking butt through the first two preseason games while Perine hasn’t flashed as much as fans were hoping.

Perine had just two carries in Friday’s loss for a measly three yards while Patrick now put up two stellar games. Patrick had six carries for 42 yards while Evans carried the rock nine times for 35 yards.

Again, Perine’s spot on the roster isn’t going anywhere (barring something strange) but he’s done very little in preseason to this point so it’s not a stretch by any means to say that his value is tumbling.
