The Cincinnati Bengals are entering the final week of preseason against the Miami Dolphins. However, multiple players still have question marks that need to be answered before Week 1 against the Vikings. Here are four players that have to prove something Sunday evening.

Bengals with something to prove

4. Brandon Allen

Brandon Allen so far has not looked good through preseason with the first unit. The offense has struggled as a whole when converting first downs and moving the ball down the field.

Now Allen won’t be the starter in Week 1 and won’t be a game-changer as long as Joe Burrow is healthy and ready to play, but having a trusted backup behind Burrow, who is coming off a severe knee injury, is extremely important. It should be someone you are comfortable with if he ever has to come in and take snaps. PFF broke down Allen’s latest performance below.

Allen, at the moment, doesn’t look very comfortable behind center and doesn’t look like he’s on the same page with any of the receivers on the roster. His approach also does not come off as intimidating to other defenses by any means.

Another poor performance in Week 3 could start to make the Bengals think twice about their backup quarterback situation going into the season, potentially leading them in the direction of a solid veteran quarterback to put behind Burrow at the position.

Potential suitors could include players like Robert Griffin, Matt Moore, Jaime Newman, Joe Webb, Drew Stanton, and more as quarterbacks hit the market over the next week after cuts are made.
