The Cincinnati Bengals trimmed their roster down to 53 players but to do so, they had to cut notable players. Whether these players had a standout performance or two (or three) in preseason  or saw their stock take a hit, the Bengals decided to cut these guys.

The hope now is that they’ll clear waivers and the Bengals will be able to keep them on their practice squad.

Most Notable Bengals Roster Cuts – No. 4: Jacques Patrick

While Jacques Patrick might not have been considered a surprising player to get cut, it’s still a disappointment for fans. Patrick looked great in the preseason, dashing for a total of 156 yards and a touchdown off of 31 carries while also catching three passes for 23 yards.

Patrick wasn’t in a great spot to begin with, as Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine would represent two of the likely three running backs making the final roster. That left Patrick competing with sixth-round rookie Chris Evans, who also had an excellent preseason.

If Patrick clears waivers (and that’s a big if considering how well he played throughout the summer), he could make it to Cincinnati if an injury occurs. He became a fan favorite during the preseason and hopefully, this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Jacques Patrick in wearing the stripes.
