Bengals Roster: 6 takeaways from waiver claims and practice squad additions

Mike Thomas and Trenton Irwin cut
The Bengals had tough decisions to make at the wide receiver position and despite Mike Thomas and Trenton Irwin initially making the roster, they were cut to make room for the newly-added waiver claims.

This is tough considering how dominant Irwin was during the preseason and fans were excited to see him make the final roster. Thomas has been a nice player for the team and provided a true WR5/6 option.
There could be a chance for either of these guys to rejoin the roster when players go on injured reserve but for now, they’re not on the team, which is a bummer. The Bengals have five wide receivers on their roster — Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins, Auden Tate, and Stanley Morgan Jr., giving them a nice group to work with.
Hopefully this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Trenton Irwin for sure. He was a lot of fun to watch this preseason.
