Michael Jordan and Austin Seibert find homes elsewhere

Two former Bengals were claimed off waivers — Michael Jordan and Austin Seibert. Jordan is now a member of the Panthers while Seibert is going to be kicking for the Lions in 2021.

Jordan was someone the Bengals hoped to be able to keep on their practice squad but it’s not surprising that he was scooped up by another team. The former fourth-round pick out of Ohio State failed to live up to the hype in Cincinnati and while some thought he might make it through to the final roster, it wasn’t surprising to see him waived.

Jackson Carman and D’Ante Smith both passed Jordan on the depth chart by the end of the preseason. It wasn’t a good sign seeing Jordan run with the 3s during the preseason finale and that turned out to be quite telling when it was all said and done.

As for Seibert, it was pretty clear that he’d be on the outside looking in when fifth-round rookie Evan McPherson wowed everyone with his kicking abilities. If it hadn’t been clear prior to the third preseason game, the kicking battle was definitely over when McPherson knocked through a 57-yard field goal.

Seibert had to know the end was coming and now he’ll head to the Motor City to kick for the Lions.
