Bengals Roster: 6 takeaways from waiver claims and practice squad additions

3 RBs on practice squad
Now we’ll get to the Bengals practice squad additions, starting with the running back position.
We all knew the team was in a good spot at running back and they proved that they like what they have to work with by keeping three running backs on their practice squad. Jacques Patrick, Pooka Williams, and Trayveon Williams all made it onto the practice squad while Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine, and Chris Evans are on the official roster.

Mixon only started six games last year due to injury so perhaps the Bengals want to make sure they’re set up to succeed when it comes to running the ball.
Patrick was electric in the preseason and deserved to make the roster but at least he’ll be sticking around with the organization. The two Williams didn’t do much throughout the preseason but Trayveon has been with the team for a few years while Pooka provides versatility through running, receiving, and on special teams.
On paper, this move makes sense but that doesn’t make it any less surprising.
