Offensive Linemen to Sign – No. 1: Mitchell Schwartz

There’s certainly a theme on this list and it’s that all three of these offensive linemen are coming off an injury. Mitchell Schwartz had back surgery over the offseason but prior to that, he had yet to miss a start during his NFL career, which spanned back to 2012.

Schwartz was an anchor on the Chiefs offensive line during his time there and was one of the best right tackles in the league. His consecutive starts streak came to an end because of his nagging back injury and prior to the injury becoming public knowledge, it was clear he wasn’t the same guy in 2020.

The good news is that it appears Schwartz is good to go but he’s yet to sign with anyone yet. The Chiefs are probably the favorite considering he still lives there and is adored by Chiefs fans but the Bengals have a stronger need for him and it’s possible that Schwartz could be a starter for Cincinnati moving forward.

While Riley Reiff is in line to start at right tackle this year, he’s only signed to a one-year deal. Inking Schwartz to a multi-year deal might be risky but if he’s fully recovered and back to the old player he once was, the Bengals could look like geniuses in giving the right tackle a chance.

The Bengals’ offensive line seems to be set but these three offensive linemen could certainly be worth bringing in for the 2021 season and potentially beyond.
