Round 2: Pick 37 – Devin Lloyd (Utah), Linebacker

Linebacker. Utes . Devin Lloyd. 37. player. 843.

The Bengals have entrusted their faith in a young group of developing linebackers. When they chose not to re-sign Josh Bynes, it was clear that the Bengals were ready to let a host of 2020 draft picks prove themselves. They didn’t even draft a linebacker in this year’s draft, which was surprising considering they were armed with 10 picks.

Logan Wilson appears to be the group’s leader and the coach on the field, relaying messages from the sideline. Arguably it is Germaine Pratt who will face the biggest questions in 2021. His performance has been up and down, particularly last year when he struggled in a defense that was decimated by injury.

Pratt will head into a contract year in 2022, and the Bengals may eye a replacement to pair with Wilson. Devin Lloyd is a do-it-all linebacker who has led the Utes in tackles over the last two years. Couple that with 9.5 career sacks, and you have a dynamic playmaker who consistently affects the offensive game plan.
