Defense looks much better

The defense has not been a strength for the Bengals in recent years but they’ve played well in the first two games of the season. They held Chicago to 20 points in this one and limited the two Bears quarterbacks to just 83 yards through the air and a touchdown while picking them off once.

This is exactly why Cincinnati went out and spent all of that money in free agency on guys like Trey Hendrickson and Larry Ogunjobi and hey, what do you know? It’s paying off!

Hendrickson had an awesome second game as a Bengal, getting his first sack with the team and then adding half a sack to go along with it. D.J. Reader, who was signed last year, also had a big game, getting a sack to add to his stat sheet.

The Bears’ run game totaled 123 yards off of 34 carries, so that’s certainly an area the team could improve but compared to the other recent Bengals defenses, fans feel good about this group moving forward.
