With the rookie quarterbacks struggling three weeks into the 2021 season, it makes perfect sense that Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase now has the second-best odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year at +450, per WynnBET.

The only rookie ahead of him at this point is Mac Jones of the Patriots, who has +350 odds to win the title. Jones threw three picks on Sunday so it’s surprising to see him still leading the way there while Chase has four touchdown receptions and 220 yards receiving through the first three games of his pro career.

Chase is currently tied for second in touchdown receptions with four (it’s a four-way tie between him, Rob Gronkowski, Adam Thielen, and Mike Williams, for what it’s worth), trailing just Cooper Kupp who has five trips into the end zone. Chase leads all rookies in touchdown receptions, however.

Ja’Marr Chase has the second-best odds to win Rookie of the Year.

Chase has yet to have a bad game and has scored a touchdown in each of his three games this season with Sunday’s win over Pittsburgh being his first-ever multi-score game as a pro wide receiver.

Prior to the season beginning, Chase was sitting at +1400 odds to win Rookie of the Year. After his electric Week 1 campaign, he jumped to +900 odds. After another impressive performance in Week 2, his odds continued to increase, as he was looking at +750 odds. Now he’s at +450 odds and only has Jones ahead of him in the competition.

There’s still a lot of football left to be played this year but with how poorly the rookie quarterbacks have performed so far, it makes sense that Chase has jumped to second place in the OROTY sweepstakes.
