The Cincinnati Bengals escaped a packed Paul Brown Stadium with a thrilling 24-21 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars to improve to 3-1 on the season and take the outright first place lead in the AFC North. Here are your Weekly MVPs from Thursday night.

Cincinnati Bengals Weekly MVPs

Offensive MVP: C.J. Uzomah

C.J Uzomah was nothing short of incredible on Thursday night. Without Uzomah, the Bengals do not win this game. Every time it seemed the Bengals’ offense was about to stall or was in need of a big play, the starting tight end stepped up and made the play.

Tyler Boyd was outstanding as well with nine catches for 118 yards, but Uzomah wins this MVP award easily. He and Joe Burrow put on a clinic in the second half, and they dominated. Coming off a torn Achilles that Uzomah suffered last season, it was great to see him look like his usual self again.

Uzomah ended up with five catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns, one for 22 yards and a game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter for 31 yards. He also made the biggest play at the 50-yard line in the final 1:30 of the game, where Burrow found him on an all-out blitz for a catch and run for 20+ yards that set the Bengals up inside the 25 of Jacksonville. This, of course, led to the game-winning field goal (more on that in a bit).

I would expect the Bengals to continue using Uzomah in the offense moving forward, especially after this performance. C.J. Uzomah is this week’s offensive MVP.
