The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-21 of a game-winning 35-yard field goal Thursday night to move to 3-1 overall and take the outright lead in the AFC North heading into the weekend.

Here are how the Bengals’ rookies performed in the win.

Cam Sample continues to play rotational snaps for the Bengals defense, but after getting a clean sack last week and making a few tackles, the rookie fourth-rounder is starting to see his snap count rise.

With Larry Ogunjobi going down and not knowing his timetable moving forward, Sample could see more playing time and a chance to seriously impact the defense.

Sample did not have any assigned tackles in this game, but the fact that he is taking snaps was unexpected at the start of the season and when he was drafted.

He was a project to grow and develop, and he still needs to do those things, but he is way above schedule from what I see. It will be interesting seeing how Lou Anurumo and Zac Taylor use him next week against Green Bay because he is improving and looking more comfortable and confident each week he plays.
