Bengals focus on protecting Burrow in early four-round mock draft

Round 4: Pick 120 – Ochaun Mathis, EDGE, TCU
With new additions on the defensive line in Trey Hendrickson, Larry Ogunjobi, Cam Sample and BJ Hill, the Bengals have been creating more pass rush than their other defenses of the past few years. Along with Joseph Ossai returning from injury in 2022, pass rush seems like it would be at the bottom of the Bengals list of concerns.
However, while certain pass rushers have been flashing for the Bengals, no one aside from Hendrickson has been able to get to the quarterback on a consistent basis. While Hendrickson, Ossai and Sam Hubbard are a fine trio of edge rushers, the Bengals could use more depth.
Ossai is injured now, but what happens if Hendrickson or Hubbard goes down next year? Pressure on the edge is crucial and the Bengals currently don’t have enough depth to handle an injury at the position.
Ochaun Mathis, an edge rusher from TCU, can be that fourth guy in the rotation that the Bengals need. While Mathis only has one sack so far in 2021, he had nine in 2021.
