The Cincinnati Bengals came oh so close to upsetting the Packers in Week 5 but couldn’t get the job done. They’re now 3-2 on the year while Madden has gone 2-3, correctly picking the last two Bengals results.

Madden did think the Bengals would lose by double-digits this past week, which we know didn’t happen. Still, the video game predicted that Davante Adams would have a massive day, and boy, did he ever!

Week 6 presents a less-scary opponent in the Detroit Lions, but any team can find a spark and surprise in any given week. Detroit might be winless to this point but they’ve had several close calls in their game to this point, losing two off of “walk-off” field goals. The Bengals certainly shouldn’t take this Lions squad lightly.

How does Madden see things shaking out for Week 6 against the Lions?

Madden Simulation – Cincinnati Bengals 24, Detroit Lions 17

Bengals Stats

  • Joe Burrow – 26-of-42, 308 yards, 2 TD, INT; 3 carries, 34 yards
  • Samaje Perine – 14 carries, 62 yards
  • Ja’Marr Chase – 8 rec, 112 yards, TD
  • Tee Higgins – 5 rec, 88 yards, TD
  • Logan Wilson – 11 tackles
  • Trey Hendrickson – 2 sacks
  • Chidobe Awuzie – INT (Pick-6)
  • Vonn Bell – INT

Lions Stats

  • Jared Goff – 17-of-36, 196 yards, TD, 2 INT
  • D’Andre Swift – 15 carries, 92 yards, TD
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown – 7 rec, 87 yards
  • T.J. Hockenson – 3 rec, 12 yards, TD
  • Alex Anzalone – 13 tackles
  • Trey Flowers – Sack
  • Amani Oruwariye – INT

The Bengals are favored in this game despite being on the road and Madden thinks they’ll cover. Fans would be happy with any kind of victory but beating the Lions by a touchdown would most certainly suffice especially if Burrow put up the kind of numbers the video game predicts him to.

Chase has another massive day and Higgins gets in on the action as well this time around after not doing much last week. The defense plays well with Awuzie getting a pick-6 and Hendrickson adding two more sacks to his stat sheet.

As for the Lions, it’s a tough day for Goff, as he doesn’t pass the 200-yard passing mark and throws two picks, one right into the arms of Awuzie who runs it back for six points. The Bengals limit Hockenson, which is good, but he does find the end zone once.
