Chris Evans should be RB2
Samaje Perine missed the game due to landing on the COVID list this week so rookie sixth-round pick Chris Evans finally got a chance to be more involved. The end result was a good one, as Evans notched the first touchdown of his NFL career on a 24-yard reception. He also ran the ball four times for 18 yards.
Evans didn’t just impress when the ball was in his hands but he also showed a lot more in the pass protection aspect of the game. This isn’t something Perine has been able to say, as he’s really struggled in that department.
At this point, yes, Perine is the more experienced running back but Evans proved himself to be the better all-around option. He deserves to be the backup to Joe Mixon moving forward because not only is he the better weapon than that of Perine but he’s a better blocker as well and that’s important for running backs.
