3. Trey Hopkins

This one is tricky because while Trey Hopkins hasn’t played well this year, he’s still under contract next year. It wouldn’t cost the Bengals too much money to part ways with Hopkins after this year, however, and if they add a center either through free-agency or the draft, it’d be best to let him go.

Hopkins once looked to be a gem for this team but he hasn’t been the same player Cincinnati is used to seeing. Perhaps his injury from January is still nagging at him but Hopkins hasn’t been good.

The Bengals drafted Trey Hill in the sixth round out of Georgia but his NFL debut didn’t go well. That was at right guard though, to be fair. Who’s to say things would go the same at his preferred position of center?

We’ll know how the Bengals feel about Hopkins’ future depending on what they do at the trade deadline. If they add a center before the deadline, that’s a good indicator that Hopkins won’t be back in 2022.
