The Cincinnati Bengals have several key players slated to hit free agency as soon as the 2021 season is officially in the books. With the division-rival Browns locking up two of their offensive linemen to extensions this week, let’s take a look at some Bengals who should be given extensions as soon as possible.
5. Riley Reiff
The Bengals needed to improve their offensive line over the offseason and did so by inking Riley Reiff to a one-year deal worth $7.5 million. The end result has been more than worth it, as Reiff has been a tremendous addition to the Bengals’ o-line, garnering a 70.8 PFF grade for his efforts.
When Reiff signed with Cincinnati, it was pretty well-known that he’d be manning the right tackle spot since the Bengals had Jonah Williams at left tackle and he was the hopeful future on the left side of the line. Reiff has taken to his new position quite well and the Bengals would be fools not to at least attempt to extend him.
Reiff wasn’t getting any buzz in free agency but he’s now proven that he can play both tackle spots well and that’s a player Cincinnati can’t let get away. He’s closing in on his 33rd birthday, so there won’t be any more massive contracts for the former Lion and Viking but the Bengals could offer him a two-year extension and make sure the right side of their line is locked up for at least the rest of Joe Burrow’s rookie contract.
