The Cincinnati Bengals put a lot of work into their defense this offseason and they’ll have to keep at it this upcoming offseason if they want to vie for a championship in the coming years. Fortunately, the Bengals have plenty of money to bring in top-tier free agents.

Cincinnati spent a lot of money in free agency last year, signing Trey Hendrickson, Larry Ogunjobi, Chidobe Awuzie, Mike Hilton, and Ricardo Allen, to name a few notable ones. While the defense has been very up and down this year, there’s no debating that it improved from a season ago. At one point, this unit was one of the best in the league.

After two bad games, however, who knows how the defense will be looked at when the season is over. Whether it’s a positive or negative ending for the Bengals’ defense, this organization needs to continue being aggressive and bringing in premier talent.

With the Bengals nowhere near strapped for cash, they can afford to go after the big dogs in free agency. Let’s take a look at five players who could really help this defense out in 2022 should Cincinnati make a push to bring them to the Queen City.

Note: I won’t be including pending Bengals free agents, so Jessie Bates and Ogunjobi won’t be making appearances on this list.
