Bengals Roster: 4 players you might have forgotten about this season
The Cincinnati Bengals have impressed so far this season but there are four players on the Bengals roster who fans might have completely forgotten about. Whether these guys have been injury-prone or simply haven’t been on the field for other reasons, we haven’t gotten many chances to see these players in action.
Clearly, it hasn’t been a huge deal, as the team is 7-4 and still in the running to win the AFC North. If they don’t accomplish that, they could still make the playoffs by earning a Wild Card berth. At the same time, however, it’s hard not to think how much better this team could be if these guys were on the field and playing to the level that they have in the past.
Let’s take a look at four Bengals who you might have forgotten were even on the roster.
4. Vernon Hargreaves
Nearly a month ago, the Texans waived former first-round pick Vernon Hargreaves III and the Bengals claimed him off waivers. It seemed like a solid move by the stripes at the time because they needed help at cornerback but Hargreaves has yet to appear in a game for the Bengals. Hell, he’s yet to even be active for a game.
Hargreaves went No. 11 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Florida and spent the first four years of his career with the Buccaneers. He was then waived by the Bucs at the halfway point of the 2019 season and the Texans scooped him up.
He played in eight games for Houston this season before they waived him and Bengals fans were hoping to see him make some sort of an impact with the team. Unfortunately, he hasn’t gotten that chance and that’s not a good sign considering how poor Eli Apple has been in coverage (though the interceptions have helped his case).
When I was looking over the Bengals’ roster for names to consider for this list, I had completely forgotten about Hargreaves because he hasn’t been active for a game yet.
