1. Vernon Hargreaves

Okay, so this is an easy one, but the list is “pending free agents who won’t be back” and Vernon Hargreaves is just that. Cincinnati claimed Hargreaves off waivers last month and he’s yet to even appear in a game or be active during his time with the team.

The Bengals need to fixate on adding cornerbacks over the offseason but Hargreaves probably won’t be brought back. Maybe he gets some playing time and impresses down the stretch but right now, he’s someone fans shouldn’t anticipate seeing back with the Bengals in 2022.

Some of the key free agents this offseason consist of Ogunjobi, C.J. Uzomah, Jessie Bates, Riley Reiff, and Quinton Spain. Out of these guys, I only felt comfortable putting Ogunjobi here because of his age and production this season.

Uzomah seems to love being a Bengal and raves about the team all the time so I’m going to be optimistic here and predict he gets an extension. Bates might get slapped with the franchise tag but at least he’ll probably be back in 2022. Reiff is a question mark but the offensive line has looked better so hopefully, that propels Cincy to keep him around.

Lastly, Spain was re-signed last year and has played well. Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic wrote about both Spain and Reiff, noting that they both could be candidates to be retained. That’d be awesome if Cincinnati could keep both of them.
