D.K. Metcalf was available when Bengals took Sample but went 12 picks later

With the 64th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks took D.K. Metcalf and it’s hard to believe how many lesser receivers were taken ahead of Metcalf. The guy initially made headlines with how ripped he was yet he fell to the end of the second round.

Metcalf has been a superstar since entering the league, totaling 900 yards receiving as a rookie and then following that up with 1,303 yards and 13 touchdowns in year two. Now it’s worth noting that he’s had Russell Wilson throwing the football to him during his promising young career but he would have given Bengals fans a lot to root for had Cincinnati spent their second-rounder on him.

Maybe Metcalf doesn’t have the same rookie campaign in the Queen City in what was Andy Dalton’s final season with the Bengals, but could you imagine the numbers he’d be putting up with Joe Burrow as his quarterback?

Metcalf isn’t as big of a miss for Cincy considering how good their receivers are now but it still hurts thinking of what could have been with Metcalf as a Bengal.
