Chase Winovich was available when Bengals were on the clock

While this season hasn’t been a good one for Chase Winovich, his first two years in the league were impressive. The Michigan product went one pick after Terry McLaurin and he was a really good EDGE rusher for the Patriots in his first two years.

Winovich appeared in all 16 games in each of his first two seasons and recorded five and a half sacks in both years, giving him 11 through two years. Pretty damn impressive. He’d have easily been a difference-maker in this defense and when you consider how bad Cincinnati’s pass rush was last year, having Winovich around could have changed that narrative.

As is the case with the other two options we’ve touched on so far, this miss doesn’t seem as bad now, as the Bengals have fixed their pass-rushing woes with guys like Trey Hendrickson and Larry Ogunjobi and hopefully Joseph Ossai next year when he gets healthy.

This time last year, however, fans were probably singing a different tune regarding the team passing on Winovich.
