Dawson Knox is the tight end Bengals should have taken

With the 96th overall pick, the Bills took Dawson Knox and he’s been a dependable tight end during his time in Buffalo. This year has been his best, as he’s racked up 44 receptions for 527 yards and eight touchdowns through 12 games.

Through three seasons, Knox has 96 receptions for 1,203 yards and 13 touchdowns and has turned into one of Josh Allen’s favorite weapons. The Bengals spent their second-round pick on a tight end and it hasn’t gone well for them but perhaps it’s because they didn’t spend it on the right tight end.

Knox and C.J. Uzomah would have given the Bengals a nice one-two punch at the tight end position, which is what they were hoping for with the addition of Sample. Instead, Cincinnati could lose Uzomah to free agency and Sample hasn’t proven to be the pass-catching threat the team was hoping for.

Knox could have been Burrow’s key tight end, as he’s been for Allen, but we’ll never know if that would have ever happened.
