C.J. Gardner-Johnson has swagger Bengals secondary could use
While the safety position isn’t one that desperately needs fine-tuning as of now, C.J. Gardner-Johnson is a lot of fun to watch. The Saints landed him with the No. 105 pick, making him an early fourth-round pick, and he was there for the taking when Cincinnati was on the clock.
Gardner-Johnson has been an incredible safety for New Orleans during his three seasons there, totaling 149 tackles (13 tackles for loss), 26 defended passes, 10 QB hits, and four interceptions through 40 games and 28 starts.
As mentioned, the Bengals haven’t been hurting at the safety spot, but it’s hard not to think about what Ceedy could have brought to this secondary. The former Florida safety made headlines this week when he picked off Tom Brady in the Saints’ blowout win over Tampa Bay and then joked on Twitter about Brady throwing his Microsoft tablet.
Hey @Microsoft @surface , can y’all send me a new Surface Tablet? I need to give it to a friend who broke his. Thank you and Merry Christmas 😇

Gardner-Johnson was on the board when the Bengals took Sample and he’d have been a fan favorite in Cincinnati for sure.
