Brandon Scherff (Guard)

I mentioned how the right guard situation was rough with a revolving door of Xavier Su’a-Filo, Jackson Carman, and Hakeem Adeniji manning the position. Carman is only a rookie so the team might not give up on him being the right guard of the future so quickly. I’d argue that right guard isn’t the right spot for him but he could still play right tackle if Reiff isn’t re-signed.

Brandon Scherff is the best guard hitting free agency this spring and it’d be wise of the Bengals to at least implore signing him, even if it’s not a realistic scenario. Spotrac has Scherff’s market value set at five years worth $63 million, making him a pricey investment but one that’s worth spending that kind of dough on.

Scherff is a four-time Pro Bowler and has been named All-Pro once during his seven-year career, all spent with Washington. The long-time Washington right guard could fill the Bengals’ need at the position and he could do so for the foreseeable future. He’ll be 30 years old in free agency and that’s not old for an offensive lineman at all so a five-year deal is a good value.

It’d be great to have Brandon Scherff in Cincinnati and that’s why he’s an easy inclusion on the Bengals’ Christmas wish list.
