Joe Burrow vs. Derek Carr – Wild Card Weekend

It’s looking like the winner of the Raiders-Chargers game in week 18 will be a Wild Card team while the other will be sent home to watch from their couches. Most people are expecting the Chargers to pull it off but, it is a division game and it is in Vegas, so anything can happen.

Yes, the first meeting between Carr and Burrow was not exciting. The Raiders were reeling and the Bengals took advantage. However, did you know Carr put up better numbers than Burrow in that game? Carr threw a pick, but Burrow only threw for 148 yards.

Burrow didn’t have to do a ton, however, as Joe Mixon had success on the ground and that was where the offense thrived that day. The Bengals were in control for most of the game.

With that said, the Raiders are on a three-game win streak, capped off with a win against the Colts. The Colts were on fire for several weeks making people think they were the team to fear but Vegas took them down. They’re not a team to take lightly by any means.

Given everything that has happened to the Raiders this season I’d say it is a miracle they are still in this position, clearly they haven’t given up hope. It’s that resiliency that wins teams games in January.

Lastly, did you know Carr is fourth in passing yards? For starting quarterbacks, Burrow and Carr are first and second in completion percentage. With all the surrounding noise people have forgotten what a good year Derek Carr is actually having.

Given the fight in the Raiders, a rematch could be quite exciting.
