Joe Burrow has metal bones

Ok, I know Joe Burrow doesn’t literally have metal bones. We are at least 20 years from that technology, but it certainly seemed like Joey Franchise was made from something more than flesh and blood Saturday.

Burrow took a legendary, David Klingler-style beating. I’d tell the kids to look up Klingler, but I don’t want them to have nightmares. Suffice to say Joe will need an ice pack or two this week.

The offensive line has been the object of much concern this season, and rightfully so. Despite playing better the second half of the season, this unit is still often overmatched.

However, while it might be an unpopular opinion, several of the sacks Saturday were on Burrow for simply either not unloading the ball into the third row, or waiting too long to cut bait and run.

Also, while I hesitate to criticize Zac Taylor recently, his insistence on continuing to drop Burrow 5-7 steps deep waiting on deep routes to develop, without an outlet receiver is puzzling and a little concerning.

Hopefully, the game plan against the Chiefs will feature a little more variety in that respect. Tyler Boyd needs more involvement in the game plan to take pressure off Burrow in Kansas City.
