5 potential landing spots for C.J. Uzomah in free agency
5. Cleveland Browns
Whether the Cleveland Browns want to admit it or not, Odell Beckham Jr. was not the problem. Essentially, it all boiled down to the franchise choosing between the eccentric receiver and their underachieving quarterback, Baker Mayfield. Considering that Beckham Jr. was shown the door and Mayfield immediately began stinking up the joint, they hitched their wagon to the wrong horse.
In all fairness to Mayfield, he was pretty banged up all year. As a result, the Browns have a difficult choice on their hands. The franchise can either wash their hands of Mayfield and start over or give him one more shot to prove himself.
If the Browns go with the latter, they should give a long, strong look at C.J. Uzomah. With David Njoku set to hit free agency, the Browns should simply let him walk, as opposed to re-signing him. Simply put, he was a disaster. In his final three seasons in Cleveland, Njoku recorded 693 total receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
Austin Hooper wasn’t much better. The former Pro Bowl tight end had a mediocre year, racking up just 345 yards last season.
Uzomah isn’t a world-beater but he’s an upgrade over both.
