Bengals Free Agents in 2022

  • Brandon Allen
  • Ricardo Allen
  • Jordan Evans
  • Tre Flowers
  • Josh Tupou

This next batch has one thing in common and that’s that they’re typically backups for the team.

Brandon Allen has been the backup quarterback since the 2020 season and fans were pretty happy when he chose to re-sign and back Joe Burrow up for one more year. Unfortunately for Allen, he didn’t look good in the Week 18 game in Cleveland and the Bengals might opt to go after a more seasoned vet who could help the team win if Burrow were to miss a significant amount of time.

Ricardo Allen signed with the team in free agency after spending six years in Atlanta and appeared in 14 games. He had his moments this season and was a nice depth pickup. It’d be great to have him back if he wanted to return to the Queen City in 2022.

Evans only appeared in five games this year but he’s spent his entire career with the team. With how good the linebackers looked this season, re-signing Evans isn’t a must and the team could find a cheaper option in free agency. At the same time, however, Evans is familiar with the system so if he wants to come back, why not re-sign him?

Flowers was a midseason pickup and ended up being decent. He might draw some attention in free agency but if he’s open to a reunion, the Bengals should absolutely retain him.

Tupou appeared in all 17 games this season and made nine starts. He’s not a superstar but he’s been with the team for four years.
