7. Chase Daniel

I have a running joke that any time there’s a post about free-agent quarterback options, Chase Daniel has to be on the list. This guy has made a fortune out of being a backup in the league and he has started just five games during that time but appeared in 70 games total.

Daniel is the true NFL journeyman at the quarterback position, having spent time with the Saints, Chiefs, Eagles, Bears, Lions, and Chargers throughout the course of his 12-year career.

While Daniel isn’t a stud backup, he’s familiar with what the role entails and knows what to do if his number is called. He’s backed up the likes of Drew Brees, Alex Smith, Matthew Stafford, and most recently, Justin Herbert during his career, so why not add Joe Burrow to that list?

Would adding Daniel as the backup excite anyone? Probably not but when it comes to backup quarterbacks, he’s the cream of the crop.
